EXCERPT
I think this is where it all begins...
It was the time I fell off the raft. Even though the bright sun beats down on me and the warm sun cradles me, I feel the darkness engulf me. I hear voices calling out to me, shouting from a distance and then almost silence. I feel the pressure of pounding on my chest.Just then, the darkness collides with the bright sun.I gasp and sputter up the salty water from my mouth and nose. I am turned onto my side. My eyes open. The darkness fades until it is gone.”.....

THIS BOOK
My book is a dedication to all health care professionals, who make a difference in patient's lives every day. My co-workers, paramedics, physicians, crisis workers and all care givers. A special thanks to all the front line workers, who reach out to those teetering on death. It's all of us arm in arm, like a linked chain, working together to pull you, or a loved one, out of the jaws of death.

I especially want to thank those who go above and beyond. You know who you are. I want to thank my past, present and future co-workers for making a difference in patients lives every day. Nurses really are super heroes.

One thing I have learned: Kindness is a universal language.

The yellow house was our beloved grandmother and grandfather’s house. It is more than a hundred years old. As far back as I can remember it has always been a yellow house. Such a grand yellow house in it’s day and even now with the yellow paint peeling off of it. It is abandoned most of the year only to be used as a summer home.

My grandmother’s favorite poem is called “ Daffodils” so I find it endearing to call it the yellow house. It has many stories to tell…

Footprints on my heart

A Biography December 1, 2013

In memory of a beautiful child with the biggest heart of anyone I have ever know.
Alyssa, I'm glad I told you everyday what you meant to me. "I love you. I love you for being you. No one can ever replace you." She'd smiled and say, "I know Momma, you love my little arms." You always added, "I love you forever." I miss you so much. You have left your footprints on my heart. You are my SUGAR BEAR. Alyssa, I love you forever!

Preface
This book is for all parents who have lost a child. It is not right that they go before us, especially those whose lives were ended by violence. God bless you. I hope you find comfort in my story. This book is for all those who grieve silently. Life is not easy for anyone. If you stop and listen to those around you, you will find out that everyone has a story to tell. Mine is a tragic one.
